DURGA DEVI

Durga Devi: London, United Kingdom; I am one of triplets (altogether one of five children), born in London in 1978. I am a single mother to my 6 year old daughter, Maya. Graduating with a BA(Hons) degree from UWE, Bristol, I subsequently started working for Condé Nast Publications. I worked at Vogue House for eight years, across their various magazine titles and websites. Initially styling and writing and later as a picture editor. After which, I completed a Masters in Illustration at University of the Arts, London. During my time working as a freelance illustrator, I lived in Singapore for two and a half years, where I received editorial commissions on a regular basis from Simply Her and Her World magazine. Now, back in London, I'm enrolled in the Communicative Japanese Diploma course at SOAS, University of London. Once my course ends, I hope to find opportunities in areas that will allow me to use and improve my Japanese. My daughter and I dream of moving to Japan in the near future. This blog is the beginning of that journey, and will provide information and advice for anyone else hoping to make the same move. I hope you find it useful.
